Spirituality - Juried
How does contemporary art address the idea of spirituality?
How do artists working today analyze and portray commonly held assumptions about faith, religious dogma and symbolism?
"We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience." - Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
"The whole concept of spirituality is a gift from the artists of the world to the world. If writers had not written there would be no scriptures. If sculptors had not sculpted there would be no gods found in the temples. If painters had not painted there would have been no visuals to meditate on. - Harish Johari"
Art has been a vehicle for the spiritual for as long as humans have been making art. What does spirituality mean to you? Visit CORE New Art Space to see how local artists interpret Spirituality.

The WOW Show - Juried
'Wide Open Whatever' Core's Largest Show of the Year
CORE’s Wide Open Whatever (WOW) exhibit has become an annual event highly anticipated by local artists and gallery patrons. While a handful of artists are fortunate enough to have ongoing gallery representation, the vast majority of artists have precious few opportunities to exhibit their work. Art patrons and casual gallery drop-bys rarely get to see artists that are out of the mainstream. WOW is celebrated as a venue that caters to artists and gallery patrons and achieves success with exhibiting an eclectic selection of media and creative sensibilities.
CORE’s open entry shows have become a model for art coop’s and alternative galleries locally and nationally. The WOW show has been duplicated in other cities as an encaustic exhibit in Sarasota, an affordable art fair in NYC, the Works of Wyoming, “WoW: An Emerging Media Phenomenon in Laguna, and the World Of Wearable art show in Hong Kong. However, the first WOW art exhibit, an acronym for Wide Open Whatever meaning anything goes, was created by CORE in Denver back in 1988. Since that time the WOW exhibit has become a venue leading the CORE’s lineup of annual open entry, juried art shows.
Visit WOW to see new media and combination of media, new artist’s first ever productions, and established artists’ new creations through March 25th, at CORE New Art Space, 900 Santa Fe Drive, Denver, Colorado.- March 2012: Kelly McCormack named Digital Art Curator at Boulder Digital Arts (BDA)

A show to help raise money for the Denver Metropolitan Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
"We all make associations to colors. For the exciting upcoming show, Pink, I invite artists to submit work that challenges the viewer to think about not just the definition of the color pink, but the color in a larger context. For example, in American society we have drinks, music stars, political groups, and gender associations all centered around the color pink. Work that considers a broader interpretation of the color pink will be especially considered." -Juror, Julie Puma, Artist and Core Faculty at Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design - Final Blues digital photograph, 16x20" print
